The Parthian Empire is one of the longest-lasting governments in ancient Iran. This dynasty ruled over a large part of the Iranian plateau from about 247 BC to 224 AD. This government was run as a monarchy. Parthian princes ruled some provinces of Iran, but most of the country was in the hands of hereditary kings who were under the supervision of the Parthian emperor. Since the trade and tolls received from this place bring a lot of income to the kings, therefore attention to the security and development of the roads and the foundation of the cities in the land and sea trade routes became doubly important. On this basis, many cities were built in Iran during the Parthian period. Due to the strategic location of the Persian Gulf and its role in trade, many cities were built on the shores and behind the shores of this sea. Based on the archeological documents, Hormozgan province has been given special attention as a part of the shores and backshores of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, and various cities have been built in this area. This article examines the historical geography of Hormozgan in the Parthian period using archaeological findings in a descriptive-analytical way.
