The port cities of Bandar Khamir and Bastak are located in Hormozgan
province. The dialect spoken in Bandar Khamir is a sub-division of Bandari,
and the dialect of Bastak is a subset of Dari Lârestâni. During the reign of the
rulers of Bastak, the port city of Bandar Khamir was governed by Bastaki
leaders; also the arrival of Sadatqetali from Guwdah to Bastak as missionaries
had a great impact on Bandar Khamir’s dialect. In this study, phonetic
and morphological features of these dialects have been examined and compared.
Sources used in this study include books, thesis, articles and vocabularies
from both dialects; the dialectical data were compared using the descriptive-
analytical method. The results of this study indicate that although
the dialect spoken in Bandar Khamir is influenced by Lârestâni dialect but it
has not lost its originality as part of the family of Bandari dialects, and has
tended toward Lârestâni and Bastaki dialects in some limited phonetic featu
res.
