Representation of the Sea in Everyday Life of Women in Qeshm

| The sea, along with its natural and climatic aspects, creates a special culture, values and worldview and has a special appearance in the everyday life of sailors. Therefore, the present study studies the representation of the sea in the daily lives of women on Qeshm Island. In this research, in order to obtain accurate information and also due to the virginity and importance of the subject, ethnographic method and tools of observation, interview and conversation with 24 Qeshmi women (until reaching theoretical saturation) have been used. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis technique. Field findings indicate that the sea has five basic features in the daily life of Qeshm women, including economic, social, cultural, psychological and therapeutic functions, and these functions together form the shared meaning system of women from the sea. |
