A Study of the Relationship between Improving and Repairing the Sidewalks in “Old Sefain” in Kish Island and the Increase of the Social Interactions and Tourism Development

Sidewalks from the far past in addition to the physical role and function have had some social and cultural roles and functions, and many of the social interactions and communications have been formed in this environment. Due to this, the aim of this paper is to examine the social role and function of the sidewalks and specially to study the improving and repairing the sidewalks in the increase of the social interactions and communications, and the tourism development in the old areas of Kish Island. The research methodology is a descriptive- analytical method. The required information of the research has been gathered through completing a questionnaire form and interview. The statistical model and coefficients in SPSS software have been used in analyzing the data. The main hypothesis of the research is based on the explanation of the meaningful relation between improving and repairing the sidewalks and the increase of the social interactions in the old areas of Kish Island which has been tested by the use of Kendall’s Tau-b model, and the test’s result confirms the hypothesis. Moreover, the test of its meaningful relation has been proved by the tourism development. As a result, considering the important role of the sidewalks in the increase of the social interactions and the tourism development, it is suggested that the sidewalks should be improved and repaired according to the cultural and historical features and the compliance of the specialized components. So, the way for the social interactions and tourism development will be paved.
