Abstract
Safavid Era is a remarkable period in the history of Iran because of the changes in religious awareness, society digression, formation of “Government”, and centralization of power. An effective bureaucratic system was the prerequisite of such changes. This study investigates the bureaucratic system in Bandar Abbas during Safavid Era from a sociological point of view.
The results revealed that the main reasons behind defunction of bureaucracy and fall of Bandar Abbas in that era were: involvement of government in trade, corruption of bureaucrats, and the long established dictatorship in Iran.
