Bandari dialect belongs to the southwestern Iranian languages. That is common in Bandar Abbas. This city is located on the shores of the Strait of Hormuz and this city is the economic hub of Iran, in recent years there has been extensive migration from different parts of the country to this city. However, the native inhabitants of this city speak the language that is a remnant of the ancient and middle southwestern Iranian languages. Due to its being far from the capital of Iran, it has preserved ancient phonetic and morphological features.
This paper is attempted to the etymological study of fifteen words in this dialect. For each word, first, middle and ancient form is examined; the phonetic changes of those words in the Bandari dialect and then these words in other languages are also mentioned. The research data have been collected from native speakers.
