Abstract
The purpose of the present study was to examine the psychometric properties of the Schutte emotional intelligence scale on Bandar Abbas high school students. This scale was devised by Schutte et al. (1998). The study population included students of Sanandaj high schools. In the first, 50 students and then 402 students were selected by multi steps clustered method. Schutte scale reliability coefficients were computed through cronbachs alpha and test-retest methods. Schutte scale validity were computed through correlation between Schutte scale and bar-on inventory, face validity and factor analysis. Results of factor analysis identified three factors: Optimism/Mood regulation, Utilization of Emotion AND Appraisal of Emotion. Schutte questionnaire has good reliability and validity, and can be a good alternative to the long test of emotional intelligence in Iran.
